What are beacons
The terms iBeacon and Beacon are often used interchangeably. iBeacon is the name for Apple's technology standard,
This allows mobile apps (running on both iOS and Android devices) to pick up signals from beacons in the physical world and react accordingly.
In essence, beacon technology allows mobile apps to understand their position on a micro-local scale, and deliver hyper-contextual content to users based on location.
The underlying communication technology is Bluetooth Low Energy.
How can I connect my business with Beacons?
There are two options for connecting with iBeacons:
- Our coupons can be saved to Apple Passbook (see: update coupon -> Save options)
- You can set an iBeacon UUID.
How does it work?
A customer received a coupon from your business (through social media, email, SMS, QR code, etc.) and the customer saves this coupon to his/her Apple Passbook.
When you have set an iBeacon UUID for this coupon in our software, the customer will receive a home screen message when he is close to this iBeacon.
Beacons integrated into an app
You can also connect your app with beacons. (Click here for Apple developer iOS integration).
When the customer's phone (which has your app installed) is close to the beacon UUID that is set up in your app, you can send him/her a home screen push message through the beacons.
This can contain a link to one of our mobile coupons, for example, Dear Customer, welcome to our shop, for the loyal customers we have a 10% discount + coupon link.
